“We are not going to change the whole world, but we can change ourselves and feel free as birds. We can be serene even in the midst of calamities and, by our serenity, make others more tranquil. Serenity is contagious. If we smile at someone, he or she will smile back. And a smile costs nothing. We should plague everyone with joy. If we are to die in a minute, why not die happily, laughing?” Swami Satchitananda

As the world around us goes through some crazy crazy times, politically, environmentally and humanly it has become increasingly impossible to not think that something needs to change. How much longer can we continue with the level of increasing violence, separation and destruction we are enacting on each other? But resisting life as it is and demanding others change actually doesn’t inspire change it instead adds to suffering, our own and others.

One of my inspirations for sharing yoga comes from my experience that change starts at home, and Love is an inside job. I believe as we return home to our bodies, really feeling our bodies from the inside we have the opportunity to soften. As we soften physically the mind often follows. As we let go of the ideas of who we think we should be – tension – we allow space for who we really are – relaxation.

It’s in this space we’re able to connect with our Hearts, not our hearts as a physical organ pumping blood through the body but our Heart as an organ of wisdom – our inner knowing, and beyond that our connection to something far greater than our body.

When we act from this place we are acting from the Heart – a place of Love, Compassion, Respect and recognition of true Beauty and when we see this all arises from within we begin to see the Beauty, Love and Grace that is within every living being.

Yoga isn’t about how flexible this body is, its about revealing true union in Life, in every single moment.

I believe this is the path to truly caring for each other. When we know and love who we are, we can begin to know and love all living beings and we begin to understand the beauty and wisdom of Mother Earth – and we choose to work with each other instead of destroying and possessing each other.

But until we begin to practice offering love and compassion towards ourself our outer service to humanity can only go so deep.

Every class I share is intended to empower you to connect with your own innate wisdom and intelligence – intelligence of the body, mind & Heart.

Yin Yoga: Mat based poses encouraging the deep relaxation of the physical body and mind. This is a very gentle but deeply nourishing practice. Using props and mindfulness a safe space is created for the muscles to relax. Weaving together elements of chinese medicine we also stimulate the movement of chi or prana (energy) throughout our entire being.

Hridaya Hatha Yoga: Hridaya Yoga teaches the path of the Spiritual Heart, an invitation to discovere the infinite potential of life lived with an open heart. Hridaya brings together meditation and hatha yoga, giving you the tools to create a life of openness, stillness, surrender and joy. Ha-tha means to find balance between effort and relaxation. Classes are accessible for all, from beginners to advanced.
